Cherryblossom Marigold

Cherryblossom Marigold

This hybrid expression of culture and design started while traveling in Mexico City with a tiny sketch pad that evolved into mandalas of varying complexity that engages the viewer in a deeply meditative, cathartic process.

While working on this series, Sotelo Yamasaki creates a visual code among the glyphs that each person will interpret according to their own internal lense. This act of seeking meaning in images requires that placement matters, and as a result each piece has its own flow and purpose.

Mediums include mineral pigments from the San Antonio river, ink, graphite, screen prints and  site specific work.
